Today would have been your 82nd birthday and somehow it feels harder this year than the past two years that you are not here. I wish you could see what I am doing and impart some words of wisdom, I feel so sad that you cannot see what a wonderful little girl Chloe is turning out to be, how keen Nick is on cooking and baking, what a fine young man Xander is growing into and how determined Sophie is to achieve her goals. There are so many things I wish I could ask you about, photographs I would love to put names to, items I remember growing up with that I would love to know the story behind, and most of all I would love you to teach me how to make those wonderful pancakes of yours without them being burnt on the outside and raw in the middle! It is true when they say you never know what you have got until it is gone.

Chloe and I had a lovely afternoon by the sea, gathering lots of vintage china. We made a new friend who has promised to help us in our quest for more lovely bone china. Xander had his Spanish exam today which was his last one so we celebrated with some lovely cakes, sandwiches and sausage rolls served up vintage style. I managed to get some photos taken for the web site and face book page before three hungry children fell on the goodies. My lovely china is now safely stored away ready to be catalogued and the beautiful vintage linen my new friend found for me is in the washing machine. Can't wait until the morning when it will be on the line to dry in all it's crisp white glory.

I've finally done it, I've stopped procrastinating, clutching my ideas to myself and doing nothing and actually launched a Facebook group in advance of going live with my business in August. The website is in the design stages, the stock is being collected and pictures will soon be available. Thank you Mum and Nana, Katies both, for inspiring me to go down this road, the whole venture is dedicated to your memory.

I am starting off small, picnics, parties, special dinners and small weddings and the like, but as stocks grow so shall the size of event I can accommodate. I have many more ideas to add to my venture but there are a few people to speak to first, and some thoughts will not be able to take flight until some money is actually coming in but we're off the runway and on our way!
